Large Protests in the US Following the Death of Rene Good

Large-scale protests have taken place across the US in response to the death of Rene Good, a woman shot by an ICE agent. The protests, numbering over 1,000 nationwide, condemn ICE violence and demand its abolition. In Minneapolis, where the incident occurred, tens of thousands of people took to the streets despite the polar cold, chanting Good's name and slogans against ICE. Protesters marched to the spot where Good fell. Minnesota local officials claim the shooting was unjustified, as video footage shows Good driving away from the officer when she was shot. The Department of Homeland Security, however, insists the agent acted in self-defense. The incident has sparked strong criticism of the Trump administration, which had deployed approximately 2,000 federal agents to the Minneapolis area as part of a broader effort to deport undocumented immigrants.
