Cyprus to Acquire 'Kentavros' Anti-Drone System from Greek Aerospace Industry

The Cypriot National Guard will be equipped with the Greek 'Kentavros' anti-drone system, developed by the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI). This system is designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and UAVs, which are increasingly used in modern conflicts. 'Kentavros' is an electronic warfare system capable of detecting drones at distances of up to 150 kilometers and neutralizing them with radio frequency jamming at distances of up to 25 kilometers. It can handle multiple targets simultaneously and is designed for NATO Class 2 and Class 3 drones. The system has already been successfully integrated with the BARAK-MX Air Defense System of Israel Aerospace Industries, which Cyprus also possesses. It has been tested in real combat conditions by the Hellenic Navy, where it successfully detected and neutralized drones launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea. The acquisition of 'Kentavros' by Cyprus comes at a time of increased concern about the use of drones in the region and represents a significant enhancement of the country's defense capabilities.
