Christodoulides Presents 5-Point Proposal at Low-Expectation Trilateral

President Christodoulides presented a five-point proposal at the trilateral meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman and EU representative Maria Angela Holguin, aiming to restart talks on the Cyprus issue. The President acknowledges the difficulties raised by Mr. Erhurman, which mainly concern political equality, confirmation of convergences, a timeline, and guarantees. Christodoulides argues that these points have already been addressed and desires the resumption of talks from where they left off, while also safeguarding the acquis of negotiations. However, the Turkish Cypriot leader maintains low expectations and focuses on the need for political equality as a basic prerequisite.
