Is This Possible, Dear Friends at EAC?

The EAC (Electricity Authority of Cyprus) has submitted a 2026 budget to the Ministry of Energy based on the assumption that Cyprus will have access to natural gas from September 2026. The budget includes the availability of Unit 6, which operates exclusively on natural gas, from January 2027. However, the delay in importing natural gas to Cyprus casts doubt on the viability of these plans. EAC continues to rely on fuel oil and diesel for electricity generation, while the operation of the PEC private power station in Vasilikos also remains uncertain. This situation raises questions about Cyprus's energy policy and EAC's ability to meet future needs.
