CYP Health Organization Urges Citizens to Avoid A&E for Flu Tests

Published February 14, 2026, 12:23

The Cyprus Public Health Services Organization (CYPHSO) is urging citizens to avoid visiting the Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments of public hospitals for simple flu type A tests. CYPHSO emphasizes that A&E departments should remain available for emergency cases that are life-threatening, and not to cover primary care needs. Attending A&E for flu symptoms burdens the system and delays service to patients with genuinely urgent needs. Citizens are advised to use available flu tests at pharmacies and consult their personal doctors for advice and treatment. CYPHSO expresses its appreciation to the A&E staff for their dedication and professionalism.
