Lula to Trump: Equal Treatment for All in Imposing Tariffs

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, today called on Donald Trump to treat all countries equally after the imposition of additional tariffs announced by the American president following the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn much of the tariffs imposed by Trump from the beginning of his term. The White House occupant announced yesterday that he is raising the new global tariff on imported products to 15%, which was to take effect on February 24. With the decree he signed yesterday, after the Supreme Court ruled that a significant portion of the tariffs he had imposed were illegal, the American president set a new, temporary, "global tariff" of 10%. “I want to tell US President Donald Trump that we do not want a new Cold War. We do not want any interference in any other country. We want all countries to be treated equally,” Lula stressed to reporters in New Delhi, where he is on an official visit.
