Letymbiotis: 'Sincere Political Will Will Be Evident at the Negotiation Table'

Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis emphasized the need for a clear demonstration of sincere political will to restart negotiations on the Cyprus issue. The meeting between President Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Erhurman, with the presence of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, is considered a significant opportunity in this direction. The President presented his approach to resuming negotiations, based on the achievements of the previous process and the resolutions of the UN Security Council. Mr. Letymbiotis stated that the President will present a specific proposal for restarting negotiations at the joint meeting. He stressed that the restart must take place from the point where they were interrupted in Crans Montana, provided there is genuine political will. Wednesday's meeting is an opportunity to demonstrate this will. Regarding the four-point methodology proposed by Mr. Erhurman, the Spokesperson reiterated that the President has repeatedly and clearly stated his position on the matter, both publicly and in private meetings. The government seeks a constructive approach to resolving the Cyprus issue. Mr. Letymbiotis called on Mr. Erhurman to demonstrate sincere political will, given that he has been leading the Turkish Cypriot community for several months. The resumption of negotiations is the main goal, and Wednesday's meeting is expected to contribute to its achievement.
