Cyprus: Three Realistic Security Options

The article analyzes three realistic options for security in the Cyprus issue, taking into account developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the involvement of international powers. Resolving the Cyprus issue and a reliable security system are interconnected. The options proposed are: a European security core with the participation of countries such as Ireland, Germany, and France, a NATO stability umbrella with enhanced cooperation, and a system involving third countries as guarantors. Public opinion research shows convergences between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots on issues of international security and third guarantors.
