Cypriot Presidency of the EU: 'We Want to Bring a New Approach to the Table,' Says Kömpos to the Guardian

Cyprus is set to assume the presidency of the European Union on January 1st and declares its readiness to bring a new approach to issues such as defense, migration, and Ukraine. Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kömpos emphasized that Cyprus, as a small member state, will offer a different perspective and strive to carry out its work in the best possible way. At the same time, Cyprus wants to more actively include issues concerning the Middle East in the discussion. The division of the island and tensions with Turkey pose additional challenges for the presidency.
