Cyprus Presidency Coordinates EU Response to Middle East Crisis

The Cyprus Presidency convened the second meeting of the Integrated Political Crisis Response (IPCR) mechanism to coordinate the EU's response to the impacts of the crisis in the Middle East. The discussion focused on the humanitarian situation, the impact on populations, and support for those affected, as well as the impact on areas such as energy, migration, transport, information manipulation, and security. Member states exchanged information and expressed their concerns, while the Cyprus Presidency assured that it is ready to convene further meetings if necessary. The IPCR mechanism has been activated for other crises in the past, such as the war in Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the migration crisis, and is an important coordination tool for the EU during times of crisis.
