Cyprus Government Responds to Controversial Photos, Assault Allegations, and Offensive Remarks

The Cypriot government commented on a series of hot-button issues, including photos of President Christodoulides with a businessman who was subsequently arrested, allegations of domestic violence involving the wife of the Mayor of Paphos, revelations made by Annie Alexui on social media, and the offensive remarks made by MEP Fidias Panagiotou about people with intellectual disabilities. Regarding the photos, the Deputy Government Spokesperson emphasized that the President knows people from all walks of life and is not responsible for the actions of others. Concerning the assault allegations, he called for caution and respect for the judicial process. Regarding Annie Alexui's revelations, he warned about the dangers of publicizing personal data and the need for responsibility on social media. Finally, he condemned Fidias Panagiotou's offensive remarks but called for a measured response to the issue and criticized the media for excessive coverage.
