Government: “We Do Not Dispute the Conversations but Malicious Editing Took Place”

The government responded to a video that circulated containing alleged conversations of investors, who were supposedly offered bribery to influence the functioning of the government. Deputy Government Spokesman, Yannis Antonious, stated that the government does not dispute the authenticity of the conversations, but believes that the video has undergone malicious audio and image editing to create negative impressions. The security services are investigating the origin of the video and the content of the conversations. The government clearly distinguishes between attracting investment and illegal financial transactions, emphasizing that investment attraction is done through transparent processes and travel, while any claim of illegal remuneration is unfounded. Regarding the Director of the Presidential Office, the government clarifies that his role is limited to facilitating procedures for legal investments and informing interested parties. In addition, it is emphasized that Mr. Chrysos did not have direct communication with the President, but the meetings he had were professional and with the presence of third parties. The government stresses that any donation or contribution to the state is made through official procedures and is controlled by the General Accounting Service, without constituting a contribution to the President or the government.
