CBK: Uncovered Checks Decreased in February

The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBK) announced a significant decrease in uncovered checks in February 2026, with only 8 checks totaling €47,460, compared to 34 checks worth €42,493 in February 2025. The overall decrease during the January-February 2026 period was even more significant, with 25 uncovered checks totaling €94,551 compared to 50 checks worth €84,555 in the corresponding period of 2025. Of the individuals involved, 14 were legal entities and 5 were natural persons. Additionally, 7 individuals were registered in the Central Information Registry (CIR), indicating an improvement in avoiding the issuance of uncovered checks.
