Cyprus Veterinary Services: No New Foot-and-Mouth Disease Cases

The Cyprus Veterinary Services announced that no new cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been recorded in Cyprus. Culling and sampling continue as normal, without issues. The second dose of vaccination for cattle will begin at the end of March, while vaccines for pigs are expected by the end of March or early April. The culling of cattle in Geri has been completed, while work is progressing on creating trenches in Dali. The tracing and sampling process continues, aiming to identify potential cases originating from movements before February. Samples do not detect antibodies from vaccinated animals, but focus on detecting the virus. The Veterinary Services urge livestock farmers to contact them with any questions or concerns, assuring them that they are available to help and guide.
