Kremlin: Give Us All of Donbas to Reach Agreement

The Kremlin stated today that the territorial issue remains fundamental for Russia to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, according to the state news agency TASS following trilateral talks held over the weekend in Abu Dhabi. President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia will take control of the entire Ukrainian region of Donbas by military force – 90% of which is currently controlled by Moscow forces – if Kyiv does not agree to hand it over as part of a peace deal. Russia states that the 'Anchorage formula' provides for Russia to take control of the entire Donbas and freeze the front lines elsewhere in Ukraine as a condition for peace. Kyiv has repeatedly stated that it will not gift territories to Russia. Despite the lack of an agreement, Moscow views the recent constructive talks in Abu Dhabi positively and expects new talks next weekend.
