Taxi Drivers in Paphos Strike Over Piracy and Unregulated Practices

The Pan-Cypriot Confederation of Urban Taxi Drivers (POAT) has announced strike action, beginning with a 24-hour strike in Paphos from 6:00 AM. Taxi drivers are protesting the increase in piracy, which has doubled compared to previous years, as well as violations of seat allocations by unlicensed vehicles. They also denounce the illegal operation of intercity and rural taxis in urban areas, and the use of rental cars for passenger transport. Drivers in Paphos are waiting up to 24 hours to serve a single customer, and are calling on the Ministry of Transport to facilitate taxi access to the airport.
