Kurdish Fighters Reject Withdrawal from Aleppo Despite Ceasefire

Kurdish fighters have rejected calls to withdraw from Aleppo, despite a ceasefire announced by the Syrian government following deadly clashes that displaced tens of thousands of people. The fighting between government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) began on Tuesday, resulting in at least 21 deaths and 30,000 families being forced to leave their homes. The government announced a ceasefire in the Sheikh Maqsud, Ashrafiyeh, and Bani Zeid areas, giving Kurdish fighters a deadline to withdraw, but they refused, stating they would defend their areas. The United States welcomed the ceasefire and expressed hope for a more lasting dialogue. Turkey, which has launched attacks against Kurdish forces in Syria, is closely monitoring the situation. Analysts warn that an escalation of hostilities could destabilize all of northern Syria, with potential involvement from Turkey and Israel.
