Cyprus Tourism: Record Arrivals and Revenues in 2025, Shift to Quality in 2026

The Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, announced that 2025 was a record year for Cyprus tourism, with record arrivals and revenues. Arrivals exceeded 4.5 million, a 12.2% increase compared to 2024 and a 41.6% increase over three years. Tourism revenue increased by 15.3% year-on-year and by 51.1% over three years. The average per capita expenditure increased by 2.9% to €822, while the daily expenditure reached €99.5. Despite a slight decrease in the average length of stay, overnight stays are expected to reach 18.5 million. Tourism contributed 14% to GDP in 2025, up from 13.1% in 2024. The Minister emphasized that the period 2022-2025 focused on the recovery of tourism after the losses of 2022, and now the priority is to upgrade the quality of the tourism product. Various incentive schemes were announced for the revitalization of areas, the upgrading of accommodation, and the promotion of special forms of tourism. In addition, the National Tourism Strategy 2035 has been updated and the tour guide school has restarted after seven years. These actions aim to strengthen the competitiveness of Cyprus tourism and attract higher-quality tourists.
