Cyprus Parliament Supports Improvement of Quality of Life for People with Rare Diseases

The House of Representatives expresses its support for individuals with rare diseases and the efforts of the medical community to improve their quality of life, on the occasion of the World Rare Disease Day. The President of the House, Zacharias Koulias, emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about the challenges faced by these individuals, as well as the need for research and targeted health programs. In Cyprus, it is estimated that up to 70,000 citizens suffer from rare diseases, which are often genetic, manifest in childhood, and have a progressive course. Early diagnosis, access to treatment, and the provision of specialized services are crucial for managing these conditions. The Parliament is committed to continuing to support people with rare diseases and their families.
