Joint Front by Patient, Disability, and Elderly Organizations Against Perceived State Injustice

Three prominent organizations – OSAK, KYSOA, and the Observatory for the Elderly – have joined forces to form the “Social Alliance for the Citizen,” aiming to address the shortcomings and injustices faced by patients, people with disabilities, and the elderly in Greece. The organizations denounce delays in accessing healthcare services, the lack of organized long-term care, exclusion based on income criteria, inadequate accessibility, and the systematic transfer of care responsibilities to families. They highlight the fragmented operation of healthcare, education, social welfare, and employment sectors, leading to multi-layered exclusion. KYSOA cites specific examples of exclusion in education and healthcare, while the Observatory for the Elderly emphasizes the insufficient support for seniors and the need for dignified care. The Alliance pledges coordinated pressure and institutional participation in the design of social policies.
