Cyprus Talks: President Christodoulides and Erhurman to Meet with UN Envoy

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will meet today with Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, in the presence of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin. The meeting will take place at Ms. Holguin's residence in the neutral zone and aims to bridge the differences regarding the Cyprus issue. Ms. Holguin has already met separately with the two leaders and will today focus on the methodology of the negotiations. The Personal Envoy has expressed concern about the lack of progress and has linked the possibility of organizing a 5+1 meeting to progress on Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs). President Christodoulides is expected to present a specific proposal for the resumption of negotiations.
