Film Screenings by the Embassy of Greece

The Embassy of Greece in Nicosia is participating in the Francophonie Month 2026 with artistic events, marking the 20th anniversary of Cyprus's accession to the International Organization of the Francophonie and Cyprus's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The events include film screenings, music, readings, lectures, and competitions in various cities of Cyprus. On March 21, World Poetry Day, the embassy will screen the film “Mauthausen,” an award-winning cinematic work with music by Mikis Theodorakis and excerpts by Iakovos Kampanellis. The film will be screened for the first time in Cyprus with French subtitles, translated by Solange Festal-Livanis. The film is based on the personal screenplay of Iakovos Kampanellis and represents his unfulfilled vision, while admission is free. In addition, the film “Exist” (EN “Stelios”) will be screened as part of the “EUROPE IN THE CINEMA” initiative.
