Central Bank: Annual Increase of 4.7% in Deposits and 12.3% in Loans in February

In February, total deposits in Cyprus recorded an annual increase of 4.7%, reaching €57.2 billion, while total loans increased by 12.3%, reaching €27.3 billion. The increase in deposits was €202.2 million, compared to a decrease of €851.2 million in January. The increase in loans was €326.2 million, compared to €76.4 million the previous month. Deposits of Cypriot residents increased by €250 million, with household deposits increasing by €104.1 million and deposits of non-financial corporations decreasing by €32.2 million. Deposits of other domestic sectors showed a total increase of €178 million. The increase in loans came mainly from loans to households and non-financial corporations, with increases of €54.9 million and €60.7 million respectively. Loans from other domestic sectors showed a total decrease of €4.7 million. These figures indicate a positive trend in the Cypriot economy, with increases in both deposits and loans. The increase in loans may indicate increased investment activity and demand for financing, while the increase in deposits may reflect increased confidence in the economy and the banking system.
