Cyprus' Participation in Gaza Peace Council Involves No Financial Obligations

The invitation from US President Joe Biden to Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides to participate in the Gaza Peace Council does not entail any financial obligations for the Republic of Cyprus, assured Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis. The invitation recognizes Cyprus' role in the Middle East region and concerns participation for three years with the possibility of renewal. Mr. Letymbiotis dismissed claims of financial obligations as unfounded, emphasizing that the Cypriot government is evaluating the invitation seriously and will issue an official statement upon completion of the process. The government stresses that participation will be based on political, institutional, and national criteria.
