President of Cyprus to Convene National Council After Brussels Meetings

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will convene a National Council on Monday at 10 am, as announced by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis. The purpose of the convening is to inform the leaders of the parties about the meetings the President will have in Brussels, as part of the European Council Summit. During his visit to Brussels, President Christodoulides will meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, where he will reaffirm his political will for an immediate resumption of negotiations on the Cyprus issue. He will also meet with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to discuss regional developments, the issue of foot-and-mouth disease, and support measures for those affected. The President will present the vision and priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU at an event organized by the European Policy Centre think tank. He will highlight the need to strengthen the Union's strategic autonomy, enhance European security and defense, and the importance of a united and effective Europe. Furthermore, the President will participate in the Trilateral Social Summit co-organized by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, where he will address quality jobs and enhancing competitiveness.
