Occupied Territories: "Pseudo-State" - Turkey Protocol for Fiber Optics Approved

The "parliament" in the occupied territories approved on Monday a protocol for fiber optics signed with Turkey, after a seven-and-a-half-hour session. The approval was given with 27 votes in favor and 20 against, in an atmosphere of intense controversy. Before the session, security forces had blocked the building of the "parliament" with barriers. Trade union organizations that had gathered outside the building were dispersed on the instruction of the “cabinet,” which imposed a 60-day ban on gatherings in the area. Representatives of the organizations attended the session from the public gallery. The protocol has provoked reactions in the occupied territories. Its approval was made with the support of the “MPs” of the “coalition government”. The content of the protocol and the details of the agreement have not been fully disclosed. The approval of the protocol strengthens cooperation between the occupied territories and Turkey in the field of telecommunications. Further developments are expected regarding the implementation of the agreement and its impact on the region.
