Municipality Condemns Demolition of Historical Buildings in Karava

The Municipality of Karava condemns the demolition of historical buildings in the occupied town, describing it as systematic and deliberate. Recently, the mansion of former Mayor Grigoris Chatzilambrou was demolished, as well as other historical buildings, such as the Poyiatzis family home and the Chatzistefanou mansion. The Municipality believes this is a conscious effort to alter the historical presence of the residents of Karava and a violation of international law. Turkish Cypriot residents of the area are also reacting to the destruction. The Municipality calls on the United Nations, the European Union, and other international organizations to intervene to stop the destruction of the cultural heritage.
