Phaidon Appeals Court’s ‘No’ to Suspend His Suspension

Published February 13, 2026, 12:28

Phaidon Phaedonos, suspended Mayor of Paphos, will file an appeal against the Administrative Court’s decision rejecting his application to suspend his suspension. At the same time, the files of police investigations into allegations of possible embezzlement of funds during his term of office (2022-2023) are being forwarded to the Legal Service. One of the investigations concerns the disbursement of one hundred and sixty thousand euros from the Pension Fund of the employees of the Municipality of Paphos for the purchase of land on which the student dormitories were built. Trade unions had reported the act as illegal. The lawyer of Mr. Phaedonos, Achilleas Aimilianides, stated that they do not agree with the decision of the Administrative Court, but the appeal concerns only the suspension of the suspension and not the substance of the case. The substance of the case will be heard at a later stage.
