230,000 Doses of Drugs Seized, Police Say Arrested Individuals Are Not Masterminds

Approximately 230,000 doses of drugs have been seized following the arrests of two individuals in a Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) operation related to drugs and weapons. The suspects were found in possession of 233.5 kg of drugs, 11,640 firecrackers, two improvised explosive devices, ammunition, and approximately €13,500. YKAN Commander Christos Andreou stated that the arrested individuals are not considered the "masterminds" behind the network and that investigations are ongoing to identify other involved parties. The YKAN operation had been underway for several days, based on information held by the Service. The seized weapons will be checked to determine if they have been used in criminal activities in the past, while investigations are underway to determine the origin and destination of the drugs. YKAN estimates that organized crime is behind the case. The case is not related to previous drug cases, but YKAN will proceed with further arrests if new evidence emerges. The investigation continues to clarify all aspects of the case and bring all those responsible to justice.
