Construction of Disinfection Tanks in Timi and Anarita to Protect Livestock

Livestock farm owners in Timi and Anarita are undertaking construction projects as a preventative measure against foot-and-mouth disease. Specifically, they are building disinfection tanks 25 centimeters deep at the entrance and exit of their farms to disinfect passing vehicles. The Deputy Mayor of Timi, Giorgos Polykarpos, stated that this construction was suggested based on an example from another farm in Acheleia. There are eight livestock farms in Timi and additional ones in Anarita. Mr. Polykarpos emphasized the importance of preventative measures being taken by both farm owners and livestock farmers. Additionally, an information session for local livestock farmers will be held by a health officer from the Ierokipia Municipality at the Timi Cultural Center on Tuesday at 10:00 am. It is worth noting that no cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been recorded in the Paphos province so far, however, vigilance is deemed necessary. The construction of the tanks is part of a broader effort by the Ierokipia Municipality to strengthen preparedness for dealing with potential outbreaks. The timely implementation of preventive measures, such as vehicle disinfection, is considered critical to protecting livestock farms and avoiding economic damage that could be caused by the spread of the disease.
