Cyprus Braces for Storms, Snow, and Strong Winds

Cyprus is facing a series of weather phenomena, including low pressure, dust, rain, storms, snow, and strong winds, expected until Saturday afternoon. The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning, as a combination of rain and isolated thunderstorms is expected, initially affecting the west and then the entire island. The thunderstorms may be accompanied by hail, while snow or sleet is expected in the higher mountains. The intensity of the rain may reach locally between 35 and 55 millimeters per hour. The winds will change and strengthen, while the sea will be up to rough. The temperature will range around 14 degrees Celsius inland, 17 degrees Celsius on the coast, and 7 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains. Tonight, temporary increased cloud cover is expected, with northeast to southeast winds of weak to moderate intensity. The temperature will drop to 6 degrees Celsius inland, 9 on the coast, and 2 in the mountains, where frost is likely to form. On Sunday and Monday, the weather will be partly cloudy, while on Tuesday a gradual deterioration is expected with isolated rain and thunderstorms during the evening hours. The temperature will rise and remain above average climatic values.
