The Limassol ADE (Administrative Department of Enforcement) conducted a coordinated operation in barber shops across the city, aiming to verify their legal operation and combat illegal employment. The operation, which lasted from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, was carried out in collaboration with the Limassol OPE (Special Police Unit), the YAM (Mobile Squad) of Morphou and Paphos, and officials from the Departments of Labour Inspection and Taxation. During the checks, it was found that 11 barber shops were closed, while 4 others had violations, such as operating without a license or beyond permitted hours. A restaurant was also reported for a similar offense. The Limassol ADE announced that checks will be intensified in the future. As part of the operation, three foreigners were arrested for illegal stay and another three for immediate offenses related to illegal employment. In addition, eight foreigners were reported for undeclared work and were fined a total of €26,800. A Tax Department official reported two businesses for not issuing receipts and not using electronic payment machines. At the same time, another 50 foreigners were checked without further violations. The Limassol ADE is committed to stricter controls in the future.
