Police Investigate Allegations of Mass Dog Killing at Shelter in Paphos

Police are investigating allegations of the illegal killing of 40 dogs at a private dog shelter in Paphos, in a single day (February 16th). According to the complaint, dogs were euthanized on five different dates in February. Questions are being raised about the legality of the euthanasias, whether the animals were indeed incurably ill or dangerous as required by law, the presence of a veterinarian, and compliance with relevant protocols. The complaint also challenges the shelter's claim to be a “no-kill” facility. The complaint has been submitted to the Police, the Environmental Commissioner, and political bodies.
