Complaint Filed Over Patient Death at Larnaca General Hospital - Family Alleges Neglect

An official complaint has been filed with the Minister of Health, the Director General of the OAY, and the Executive Director of the OKYPY regarding the death of 72-year-old Constantia Nikolaou at Larnaca General Hospital on January 18th. The family alleges delayed medical care and inadequate monitoring. According to the complaint, the patient was admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 and sepsis, but it took five hours for a doctor to examine her. The family claims that assurances from medical staff were misleading and that necessary medication was not administered. The family reports that during her hospitalization, a nurse assured them that the situation was “fine” shortly before the patient passed away from cardiac arrest. They also allege that her medication was not given to her and the bottle of water next to her remained sealed. The complaint raises serious questions about the quality of medical care, staffing levels, and the workload at the hospital, as well as patient monitoring. The family is calling for a full investigation and measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
