Supreme Court Rules Against Trump's Tariffs

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that former President Trump does not have the authority to impose tariffs on nearly all countries of the world under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The decision is a significant blow to Trump's economic policy, as it invalidates the tariffs he had imposed. The court upheld two previous rulings from lower courts that found the IEEPA does not authorize the imposition of such tariffs. The case was the first in which the Supreme Court evaluated the legal basis of one of the central policies of Trump's second term.
