Trump: 'Nobody Convinced Me' Not to Strike Iran, I Convinced Myself

Donald Trump stated that he did not need to be persuaded by others not to attack Iran, but came to that decision on his own. The statement came after reports that Arab countries and Israel had pressured for de-escalation. The Iranian decision to cancel the scheduled executions of protesters is said to have played a significant role in the change of attitude, with Trump stating that more than 800 executions were called off. He stressed that he respects this move by Iran. It was also reported that at least 1,500 people sentenced to death were executed in Iran in 2025, a record number for the last 35 years, according to the NGO Iran Human Rights.
