Cypriot Presidency Committed to Affordable Housing

The Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the promotion of affordable housing policies at European level, in a meeting with the Land Development Association. The discussion focused on the need for coordinated interventions to increase the supply of affordable housing, given the pressures in the real estate market. The Land Development Association stressed Cyprus's ability and responsibility to contribute to the shaping of common European approaches to address the lack of affordable housing. The Cypriot Presidency is considered an important opportunity to strengthen dialogue, exchange best practices and promote common policies. The Association has expressed its readiness to support the Presidency's efforts by submitting proposals and actively participating in relevant actions. The lack of affordable housing has emerged as one of the most important social challenges facing EU member states. Therefore, cooperation between stakeholders and the adoption of effective policies are crucial to address this problem. The Cypriot Presidency has made supporting the effort for affordable housing a priority and is expected to play a catalytic role in promoting related initiatives at European level.
