Snow Leopard Attacks Skier Attempting Selfie in China

A female skier was attacked by a snow leopard in China while trying to take a selfie with the animal. The incident occurred near the village of Talat, in the area of the UNESCO Keketuohai Global Geopark. Despite warnings from authorities about the presence of snow leopards in the area, the woman approached the animal at a distance of just 3 meters, seeking the perfect photograph. The snow leopard lunged and bit her face, but the skier was saved from more serious injuries thanks to her helmet. She was taken to hospital and remains in stable condition. Authorities had warned people not to approach the animals and not to take pictures, as snow leopards are wild and aggressive. China is home to the largest portion of the world's snow leopard population, but attacks on humans are rare.
