China: Election of Mojtaba Khamenei is Tehran's Internal Affair

China has characterized the election of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of Iran as an internal affair of the country, based on the Iranian Constitution. Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, reiterated China's position for an immediate cessation of military operations and a return to dialogue, warning against further escalation of tensions. China opposes any external intervention in Iran's internal affairs, emphasizing respect for the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, indirectly responding to threats from the US and Israel. Simultaneously, pro-Iranian armed groups in Iraq, such as Badr, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, and Hezbollah Brigades, welcomed the election of Khamenei, expressing confidence that he will continue the policy of the Islamic Revolution and strengthen the role of the Islamic Republic in the region.
