Tatar's Claim: Cypriot Republic Policies Have Made the Island a Target

Former Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar claimed that the policies of the Republic of Cyprus have made the island a target, stating that President Christodoulides “cut the branch he was sitting on.” He argued that Cyprus has essentially become a base for weapons through international military collaborations, endangering tourism and the security of the Greek Cypriot side. Mr. Tatar mentioned that some countries, such as Britain, have warned their citizens about traveling to “southern Cyprus.” He emphasized that Turkey is following a balanced diplomacy in regional crises and that the Turkish Cypriot side is acting in cooperation with Turkey for stability in the region. He concluded that he does not foresee an immediate danger to the Turkish Cypriot side.
