Cyprus as a Bridge for Repatriation of Israeli Doctors and Nurses

Cyprus is playing a crucial role in an operation to repatriate Israeli doctors and nurses stranded abroad due to the escalating crisis with Iran and the suspension of flights to and from Israel. The Israeli Ministry of Health has launched an emergency operation to repatriate approximately 1,300 healthcare workers, of whom 500 are considered essential. Cyprus is activating a sea route for their return, with the first ship departing from a Cypriot port carrying 20 people on an eight-hour journey. The operation is considered a pilot program and alternative routes through neighboring countries, such as Jordan and Egypt, are being considered in case the airspace remains closed.
