Israel to Lebanon: Extends Attacks and into Central Beirut – Attacks Coming Without Warning

Israel announced that it is extending its military operations further into Lebanon, including into central Beirut. Through messages sent to citizens' mobile phones, Israel warned that Beirut is no longer considered a safe area and may be targeted by attacks, as is happening in southern Lebanon. Israel accused Hezbollah of using Beirut as a hideout and base for military operations. It warned that it will be forced to expand the scope of its operations in the capital, and that attacks may be carried out without warning in any location where there are members or activities of Hezbollah. The Israeli message emphasizes that Hezbollah's use of Beirut has made the capital a direct part of the theater of conflict. It warned that within five to ten days the rules of engagement will change, allowing attacks without warning.
