Cyprus: 230,000 Drug Doses Seized in Strovolos Raid - Masterminds Sought

Approximately 230,000 doses of drugs have been removed from circulation following a raid by the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) in Strovolos, resulting in the seizure of 233.5 kg of narcotics and the arrest of two individuals. YKAN Commander Christos Andreou stated that the arrested individuals are not considered the “masterminds” of the network and investigations are ongoing to identify other involved parties. The operation was carried out based on information held by YKAN and involved searches of a residence in Strovolos. In addition to the drugs, 11,640 firecrackers, two improvised explosive devices, firearm ammunition, and €13,500 were also seized. YKAN is investigating the origin of the drugs and their destination, as well as the connection of the weapons to previous criminal activities. The case is believed to be linked to organized crime, but is not related to previous drug cases. YKAN will proceed with further arrests if new evidence emerges.
