Iran and Russia will conduct joint naval drills in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean tomorrow. According to Iranian statements, the purpose of the exercises is to address threats to maritime security and combat maritime terrorism. This move comes days after military exercises by the Revolutionary Guard in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian commander of the Navy, Hassan Mahsounlou, emphasized the importance of coordination to address common challenges. These drills highlight the growing military cooperation between Iran and Russia, at a time of increased geopolitical tension in the region.
