Iran: Wife of Ali Khamenei Dies – Succumbs to Injuries

The wife of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, has died from her injuries following an air strike by the US and Israel. Mansoureh was injured in the same attack that killed her husband and had been in a coma. Mansoureh and Ali Khamenei had been married since 1965 and had four sons and two daughters. She was 79 years old and maintained a low profile, avoiding public appearances and silently supporting her husband. In a rare interview in 2011, Mansoureh stated that her role was to maintain a calm atmosphere at home so that her husband could work peacefully. She also mentioned that she participated in resistance activities against the Shah, such as distributing leaflets and delivering messages. The death of Mansoureh comes days after the death of her husband, Ali Khamenei, and marks a period of mourning for Iran.
