Iran and Russia Prepare for Joint Naval Drills

Iran and Russia are planning to hold joint naval drills in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean tomorrow, Thursday. The announcement was made by the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars, days after military exercises by the Revolutionary Guard in the Strait of Hormuz. The purpose of the drills is to coordinate to address threats to maritime security and combat maritime terrorism, according to Iranian Navy Commander Hassan Mahsoudlou. This move highlights the strengthening of military cooperation between Iran and Russia.
