Donations to Social Support Agency and Anti-Corruption Authority's Letter to the Institutions Committee

The Republic's Accountant General, Andreas Antoniades, submitted detailed information to the Parliamentary Institutions Committee regarding donations received by the Independent Social Support Agency between 2020-2025. According to the data, all donations were made via bank transfer and not in cash. The submission followed questions about potential irregularities mentioned in a video circulating online. Mr. Antoniades pledged to return with further information after receiving legal advice regarding the possibility of disclosing data that may fall under personal data protection regulations. The Institutions Committee requested a more comprehensive response to the questions raised. At the same time, the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority sent a letter to the Parliament explaining the reasons why it cannot investigate the matter and disclose the details of the donors. The Authority cites a decision by the Supreme Constitutional Court that deemed the law allowing it to conduct such investigations unconstitutional. The issue arose after the publication of a video suggesting corruption and collusion in relation to the Social Support Agency, which was previously managed by the First Lady, Philippa Karsera-Christodoulidou. The case is at the center of political debate and the investigation of the allegations is expected to continue within the legal framework.
