Former Minister Anastasios Papaligouras Passes Away

Former New Democracy minister Anastasios Papaligouras passed away today, as announced by the party's Press Office. Born in Athens in 1948, Papaligouras was the son of politician Panagis Papaligouras and was known for his family's contribution to the modernization of the Greek economy. He studied Law and completed postgraduate studies in London. He served as President of ONNED from 1976-1977 and was elected MP for Corinth with New Democracy from 1981 to 2007. During his political career, he served as Minister of Justice (2004-2007) and Minister of Mercantile Marine, Aegean and Insular Policy (2008-2009) in the governments of Kostas Karamanlis. New Democracy expressed its sorrow over the loss of Anastasios Papaligouras, emphasizing his strong impact on public life and the dignity, fighting spirit, and integrity with which he served the country and the party.
