Police Mourn the Loss of 28-Year-Old Officer in Tragic Accident

The Cyprus Police force is in mourning following the death of 28-year-old Constable Andreas Antoniou in a road accident on Friday, March 27th. Antoniou, from Nicosia, had served in the Drug Enforcement Unit since 2022. The leadership and members of the Police expressed their deep sorrow and condolences to his family and loved ones. The accident occurred on Griva Digeni Avenue in Engomi, when Antoniou's motorcycle collided with a car driven by a 23-year-old woman. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Nicosia General Hospital where his death was confirmed. The 23-year-old driver was arrested under a court warrant to facilitate investigations. Alcohol and drug tests were negative. The Nicosia Traffic Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. The loss of the young officer has caused deep pain within the Cyprus Police, which is committed to supporting his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
