Freedom Requires Virtue, Courage and Seriousness

In his article, the Patriarch refers to March 25th not as a simple anniversary, but as a reminder of the sacrifice of our ancestors for freedom. He emphasizes that freedom is not a given and requires continuous effort, seriousness and participation from all citizens. Today, the battles for freedom are different, requiring judgment, character and rejection of populism and indifference. The Patriarch warns that democracy is threatened not only by tyrants, but also by triviality, ignorance and propaganda. March 25th marks the need not to take for granted the rights we have inherited, but to feel obliged to defend them. Freedom is not a permanent buffet of rights, but requires continuous effort and sacrifice. The tribute to 1821 lies in our daily attitude, in the defense of institutions, in the rejection of falsehood and in the demand for better education and politics. The homeland is not only emotion, but also duty. The Patriarch emphasizes the need to be worthy of the freedom we have inherited, fighting for freedom, democracy, truth and the seriousness of public life.
